Despite all the doom and gloom in that previous post about the NYTimes going down down down, the New Yorker has a different perspective. Innovation
is alive and well at the Times, and they are working very hard to use new media to get the stories across.

I caught a segment of
This I Believe on
NPR on the way to a meeting this evening, and I loved it.
Jim Haynes
invites anyone in the world to come have dinner at his apartment in Paris on Sunday night. Any Sunday night. Just let him know you are coming, and if you are one of the first 60-80 people to reserve for that night, you're in. What an incredible idea.
Someday we will join him for dinner!

Here's a
great article from The Atlantic about the the future of the
NYTimes. They have a lot of debt, a dearth of credit, falling readership and decreasing ad revenue. Recently I've been debating canceling my subscription to the daily paper because I end up reading most of it on my Blackberry at various points of the day. No matter what I will continue with the weekend edition, but perhaps I'll donate the daily to a school or something. I like supporting that company. I think they do vital work for democracy, the world and my mind.
Here are
a few examples of
why the Times must survive in one form or another. The depth and breadth of their reporting is truly staggering.
